Durability of Glass Fiber Reinforced Cement (GRC) Containing a High Proportion of Pozzolans

Glass fiber reinforced cement (GRC) is an excellent composite for architects and engineers because it can be molded to produce laminar panels or create complicated designs. GRC a fine concrete with alkali-resistant glass fibers at 3–5% per mass. However, durability limited of the aggressiveness alkaline medium produced during Portland hydration (effect portlandite). The objective this study assess high replacement pozzolans (ground fly ash mixture ground sonicated silica fume) in order reduce corrosion fibers. selected high-content pozzolan (60% replacement) composites were tested under different conditions: aging, drying–wetting, freezing–thawing, chemical attack (ammonium chloride sulfuric acid). modulus rupture toughness determined. Composite behavior showed that samples not only better resisted but also physical attacks, specimens presented than prepared 100% (control specimens). Due good terms, content products are suitable potential corrosive environments sunscreens, drainage channels, cable trays, sound barriers, pavements.
